check out the firewall where the clutch cable runs though, they normally crack and need bracing.
the pedal box can crack too and the clutch pedal goes sloppy and needs repairing, and also the pin on the clutch pedal where the cable goes on up the top can also break off and need rewelding all are repairable weaknesses but can catch u out when u least expect it. |

Manual specific, don't expect it to be smooth. They were pretty Hoary Relatively rough take offs, gearshifts and lots of gearbox whine are reasonably normal. You will still know when something is f**k, but they are generally rough. Not as refined as the jap cars of the day.
General EB bits? -Normal Head gasket problems -Rusty rear wheelarches, bottoms of front quarters, sills -Odometer may not be working, so indicated kms may be anybodies guess. And just do the normal checks that everything is healthy, and the interior and body are good enough for your standards and the price. Remember, if you are procrastinating about it, walk away, probably not the car you are looking for. Good luck! |

Interior doesn't matter too much I've got a totaled ed which has a mint interior..
It doesn't appear to have rust, but there's a sus spot on drivers side sill so ill probs open it up and have a look, needs a touch up there anyway cuz its got a small dint.. The clear is peeling off the bonnet though, what's the best way to fix that up? Just rub it back till the clear/paint is smooth and put another coat of clear over the top or cut it back into the color then respray color and clear? Hopefully, I can take it for a bit of a run tonight or tomorrow

Took it for a drive and it surged really bad below 2000 rpm if I gave it a bit, but if I crept the revs up it drove fine.., any idea what could be causing this? The leads and dizzy cap looked pretty old, im hoping its only them causing it to run rough and surge

Higher mileage falcons tend to start to crack the spot welds around the rear door strikers. You can tell if it's happening, as the paint will look good, but there will be either an arc or a little circle of rust showing up. My EB has just started to do it after 420,000kms. Nothing pulling the rear seat out, rubbing it back & mig welding it up won't fix tho...
Cheers ToranaGuy

Cheers thanks for that, ended up buying a xg panno instead, more versatile and useful for me.. Wish I had the money for both though, the eb would've made a nice project car
