Well when I did my service today, I got to the stage where I was changing my oil filter and found this disturbing sight.
Unfortunately the picture isn't clear where the oil is, but I can describe it as fresh and a considerable amount there. It is where those bolts are that hold that weird thing with 6 chambers on the right-hand side of the block. Anywho, what is my problem now, and how much?

the wierd chamber thing you refer to is the BBM intake manifold. If oil is leaking around here it could also be the headgasket as the head joins the block very close to that area. however if its not leaking a huge amount you could probably try some gasket sealant (or something similar) and attempt to seal off the area thats leaking from the outside
also dont rule out the rocker cover leaking (it could just be leaking down from the rocker cover down onto the manifold.

in that pic the head gasket is dry. that looks like fuel. hook your finger around the bottom of the manifold and smell it. u'll know if it's fuel.

The BBM is above the head gasket so you must have some wierd physics going on if thats the problem.
Could be oil from the rocker cover gasket, but I dont see it anywhere else. I would tend to think those are stains from from fuel and oil pooling in the ports and leaking through the gasket.

Clean it.
Tighten the 10mm bolts from the inside to out. Reinspect in a couple of days. the inlet gasket compacts and becomes loose and thats most likey the result of the oilish residue.

Tighten the bolts from the inside to out? wtf. Do you mean tighten the bolts?
If you do, will do. Not sure how I'll access them, but I'll try, lol.

And dont go crazy tightening them either as the bolts are going into an alloy head

might pay to check all your bolts dround the engine, once noticed that a slight weep turned into a drip and found at least 3 sump bolts finger tight on my fairmont.

I'd be more concerned with the glycol seap on your heater pipe!
just thought I'd point that out!
