mine also does the same. some mornings not others for 15 or so secs. running GTX3 15-40 or 15-50 or something as such. i get it free anyhow so you know aint changing oil brand any time soon as there is still another 200L left in the drum.

Mine does the same for a little bit after its started. i believe it takes some time for the oil to pump completely around the top of the engine. check the oil level.

if its still happening after the engine warms up that means that ur lifters might be stuffed :S. lets just hope its not. try adding a different grade of oil.

Jim here
Sounds like those lifters .... What model car do you have? And how many km's? If you leave the oil in there 4 5-10,000 kms too long it can gunk up the galleries in the rockers . I suggest taking your rocker gear off and throughly cleaning the rockers and lifters.... See how you go if that does not correct your problem you may need to replace them all togther (lifters) ..... Which is quite expensive they retail from $20 - $30 depending on who you get them from... As suggested earlier ( Your oil pump may be delaying) Possible , But not likley ... I would say your lifters are stuffed and the seals are gone in them , Because they are hydraulic and should maintain pressure when not running, Which explains why the sound goes once normal oil pressure has been achived... Hope this helps - JIM - |

cheers jim. ill take it to my friend to get it checked out once exams are over. i didnt think it was the oil pump but im sure there was something wrong about why the oil kept running down instead of staying up there. cheers
