hey guys, i've currently got an LPG system on my EB I6 and it's just the generic style with a Poliauto convertor and a mixer in the air stream. obviously this causes the LPG to perform worse than the petrol would because of
1. the mixer creates a bottleneck in the intake 2. there is less available air for the engine because gas is mixed in way back before the throttle body so i was wondering what the tickford LPG setups are and do they cause the car they're fitted to to loose power (or as much as my s**t system does)? i'm just trying to get the most power from my car on LPG (without going for LPG injection )

How much you willing to spend? You can get a gas research setup for around $2200 if you've already got gas. Would you consider going straight gas?? (dual fuel setups are usually tuned as a compromise between gas and petrol)

i don't really want to spend much on changing my current setup... i wanna get the usuals ie. zorst, extractors, cam but i was just interested really in what the tickford setups actually consist of and if they are any better than a normal LPG conversion

hardware wise there isnt much difference with the Tickford system.
the major gain the tickford system has is the ECU has the ability to switch to LPG timing maps and thus essentially a 'LPG tune'

all the ECU can do is timing tho?
would an aftermarket ignition setup be of any benefit over getting my current dizzy setup for str8 LPG?

How does the GRA system mix the LPG into the air? Does it not use a mixer that bottlenecks the air flow aswell? I saw on eBay.com.au once for EF/EL's an LPG Intake Manifold, this manifold had a built in mixer and was an entire replacement manifold for the stock EF/EL one (had throttle body on it too I think). Was made for dedicated LPG cars. |

same problem on my ef, it has the gas ring and it kill performance hardcore,

when i started a thread about tht yonks ago, some guy was saying that he put his on the lathe and increased the hole in the middle of it and it made a fair difference. |

I've got an 8 so I'm looking at gas, have a look at GRA here http://www.gasresearch.com.au/
And gas injection systems here http://www.gas-injection.com.au/index.html Both have plus and minus's, check 'em out.. I'm still tossing up the options to convert mine..
