Hey all,
I've tried to search this problem on the forum, and as i think its the lifters,...I get this VERY loud ticking noise from my car, everytime I give it a bit of gas, say going through 1st n 2nd gear pretty hard...everyother time theres no noise at all, only when its under hard acceleration,...
why would it be making this noise? and what should i do about it? Lifter Treatment?
thanks
- Ash

yes it's probably the lifters if it increases with RPM. thing i can suggest, have you checked your oil level? top it up.

well thats the thing, I did a search and found a heap on lifter noise, getting it when the car starts up, or gradually over time it starts to increase in volume..but i only get a VERY loud ticking noise when I put my foot down,
I use Penrite HPR-30 and only did it around 3000kms ago,

Mate had the same problem. Eventually was a cracked timing chain cover...

:s that doesn't sound good...

Thing is its not at idle, or normal driving...only when I give it some..

Is there anything I can do about it?

Had a similar problem with my EB no ticking at idle but came on more and more with revs... ended up being a cracked drive plate! it had split between all the bolts except one! i think the torque converter may have lost a balance weight but there was no vibes? hence im glad i caught that one in time!

Loose bolts = inspection plate off, tighten bolts and refit inspection plate.
Cracked drive plate = Remove trans, Replace drive plate and refit trans.
I would check it asap. If you are lucky, you will catch it before you crack the drive plate.
