My ed for the first time the other day started ticking at one set of lights, and got worse as revs increased but the noise soon disapeared at the next set..
this hasn't happened before, and the motor was well warm. any idea what caused this, and how i can stop it from happening again? |

Its the lifters by the sounds of it.
Do an oil change and run an oil treatment through it at the same time. I think NULON make one. This may fix them up. Im not too clear on the understanding of WHY they make the noise but crappy, old oil is to blame. They wont hinder performance while making the noise but it still sucks. |

I bought ONE from Fraud recently and it cost me $60!!!!! ouch. try Repco. prolly cheapest place. 60 dollars for 1? lol 720 for all (assuming theres 12. never replaced them in an i6). i replaced them on my excel few weeks ago, cost about 40 bucks from memory at repco. |

hows ya oil level?
they tick with just low oil even. try oil change first if that was the problem it will fix instantly, if it doesnt go away right away run a bottle of nulon E10 through it wait a week if that doesnt work then replace the lifters. |

just a tip, replace all 12 at the same time! because you have to take all 12 out (they will fall out) and that usually makes another 1 or 2 tick.
cost me about 240 i think from repco when i did my head change. but do what others said 1st; check oil level change oil or stop hitting rev limiter, its hard i know just another thought, it could be the rocker gear - more unlikely thou
