Yeah but you take it back to the dealer and they must have too much wax in their ears.

They say no the cars perfect, nothing wrong with it, they cant hear any noises. I feel like whacking one of them and stick his head under the hood and beat him up until he can hear something. Ill hang him off a cliff and ask if he can hear the ticking sound.

I just want to be able to point the finger at something so they can at least put it on record and if something happens down the track after the warranty ends ill say i told them before and they ignored it.

Once you're done with the Hyundai Forums may I suggest visiting this site as well? http://www.angermanagement.com.au/

car is full of oil, doesnt use any oil at all

It only happens when its a hot day or if ive thrashed the car a little. Maybe needs a bit more oil pressure down low? thicker oil or oil pump giving up?

car has 15w 40 oil in it multi value motor. Hyundai just pretend they cant hear it, or when they get the car it doesnt do it. Because they start it cool.

My suggestion is book it into the dealer to get them to have a look at it, explain to them what is happening but dont say it does it after a thrashing.
Tell them you want a mechanic or the work shop manager to come for a test drive with you
when you go to drop it off so he can hear the problem first hand.
Before you drop it of and take the workshop person for a spin give it a caining of it's life so the oil is as hot as thus making it is as tapperty as ever.
Make sure you dont have anything that can be of a distraction for the workshop person turned on and drive the car moderately hard with them in the car.
hopefully they will then hear the tapping noise.

so what the hell are you putting oil in an oil-less engine for.. all this is, is punishment for buying a hyundai.. Sounds like oil weight issues to me.. maybe a lifter not pumping up or releasing properly...

Dunno mate.. take it to HYUNDAI... you want to point at something and tell em to fix it.. point at the motor.. as thats where you have already described the noise as coming from. I pride myself on the fact I know NOTHING about Hyundais...

Arrange with service manager to let you drive it in when hot, & it's clacking away, & keep it idling until he comes out to listen. Gotta have it misbehaving while he's there.

go hyundaimods.com!!
woops, fordmods.com...

Guy from my old work had a brand new hyundai elantra. After 20,000 k's his engine died. Took it back to hyundai and somehow, 2 of the pistons had melted. So take it straight back to them, tell them to fix it, get a second opinion from a mechanic to get them to fix it if need be, and finally threaten to go to a current affair.

I have seen an elantra with holes burnt in the pistons, Old couple driving as well. sitting on about 100km/h from Canberra to sydney, think they had been to floriade, anyways car started running like a dog about liverpool, they took it back to hyundai, found 2 pistons with holes burnt right through them.. I doubt big rev and leaning out played anypart in this either, but for the amount of car they pump out world wide there is not alot of negativity you hear mecanially.. cosmetically, you get what you pay for.. Plastic FANTASTIC!

Hmmm, might have been a common mechanical defect. This guy didn't drive it soft but didn't really flog it though
