due to engine f**k up it is time for a rebuild but while im there with the engine in pieces im doing everything i wanted to do before, so im currently thinking
new head bore block engine rebuild kit port and polish valve springs vernier gear nitrous 4.11s what else would suit for some decent gains and what power figures am i looking at?

Do you already have a cam i assume? If so then your list is going to give you quite a snappy engine.
I also assume you have an auto? Depending on cam you may benefit from a higher stally (if you dont already have). Otherwise it'll be pretty good mate.

Oh yeah.
So with your planned mods and a retune, it should be quite potent. Be sure to post results when done, what size shot of nos you plannin?

was only planning a 50 shot sniper kit but have heard the 175hp shot is a massive kick in the back of the head but not sure about the bottom-end coping...

even if its an auto, i wouldnt recomend 4.11's for anything resembling a daily driver.
3.45- 3.89 are tops, i honestly wouldnt go (personally) higher than 3.89's unless its intended to be a weekend weapon jobby. I can attest to it, i went with 3.89's (wanted 3.7's but they are so much rarer being from manual r31, whereas the more common auto had the 3.89's). on the highway at 110 im doing 2500+rpm. and it rises a lot more in proportion to speed than the 3.08's. by 120 ish its close abt 2800 rpm. in its defence my auto may be slipping a bit. but were not sure if or how it effects this reading. max gear speeds are something like: 1st: 65 ish 2nd: 105 ish 3rd: hits uncorrected speed limit at 135km/h (180 on the dash) somewhere around 3200 rpm I reckon 4th will do 180 when corrected somewhere around the 4k mark. when accelerating from a standing start changes 1-2 and 2-3 do not dip below 4k rpm, which is as high as you want it on a long stroke motor that only revs to 5500. it is also where the stock motor even with the extractors and exhaust ive got on isnt really making power. so it neccesitates a cam swap for something more top end. putting in 4.11's will be wasting the majority of your power band. get 3.7's if you can IMHO.

If you build it right and don't use it all the time, it'll handle it fine.
Correctly setup systems don't give trouble, as long as the engine is built for it.

i agree with you grimktel with the 4.11's, but want something unbelieveable off the line and will punch in any gear if given and persuasion.

Revs on the highway are 2300rpm @ 100kph...... theres nothing extreme about that at all. In fact after being un-happy with 3.73 behind the auto, and going to 4.11's..... i wouldnt recommend anything but 4.11s now!! I think it was one of the blokes from RPD cams, said you would need diff like 4.50 to have a similar overall 1st gearing like a manual EF XR6 with 3.45 diff..... something to think about... |

Grimketel, just letting him know what the 4.11's are like, not really wanting a debate.... ive already got a few of those brewing up in other threads lol !!
my speedo is 100% correct and tyres atm are standard 205/65/15. If your running 225/50/16 the revs will be slightly higher. i was disappointed a little with the 4.11's cause i was kinda hoping for 1st & 2nd to wrap up just as it hit 100kph...... similar to the Xr's (i think) |
