Is it possible that the timing chain tensioner on an ef can hold tension for a stock cam, but not an aftermarket one? Given that oil pressure is fine. I.E can the tensioner wear out, block or stick?

From reading through some of the earlier posts, high lift E-Series cams cause chain guides to break and make HLAs tick loudly. (Dev 6 JMM cams were mentioned). If oil pressure is good, the tensioner shouldn't stick. I'm using a Wade 1673 which, like the 977b, is considered a 'mild' cam and there's not chain tension problems.
Is this question related to your earlier posts about HLAs rattling with the 977b?

Im trying to focus on each individual component on the car to rule it out and move on. And I've spent alot of money chasing this, so my goal was to find out about the tensioner, if it is suspect I would buy a new one.
