hey guys just install new timing chain kit on au motor but when I line up the aux mark and crank mark they are little bit off not exactly spot on if know what I mean but if I move the aux mark to the left or right it then appear way off I have a pic to show you. can someone tell me if i set the marks right or not?

not sure about au, but i think you are trying to line up the wrong mark. these two need to line up

Dam already put the cover back on looks like have to take it off again. Wonder if the gaskets will be fine

be gentle taking it off. ive redone a timing case after about half a day and it resealed. use a bit of aviation gasket on it

Already taking it off once cause left the bottom guide out but if im using my el head and dizzy should it matter where the aux shaft points to as long as the crank is point in the right spot and the cam pointing towards 3 oclock?

thats the same reason i took mine back off lol. and not sure about the dizzy side of things, mine was ef

okay with the previous pic where the marks are pointing ive put the cover on as is and this is where the harmonic balancer sits in line with the timing cover mark so im guessing where ive set the marks that its right?

i think i read somewhere that the au used those marks to line up yellow links on the timing chain. so not sure how you would set it up with out the coloured links, someone else on here may be able to help

If i set it up like you mention to the other mark on the crank then no2 will at tdc not cyl 1

that only applies to the hybrid engine not an normal EL or AU im pretty sure but I have now solve my problem with lining up the correct marks. the downfall tho I broke one of the gaskets but it didn't matter cause the nason timing kit I got came with 2 of each which was good but one of the gaskets two sets was slightly different but it wasn't the one I broke so I alright in the end.

does this only apply when using the hybrid head, rocker gear same with the au?
