Ummmm at the risk of getting flamed...I actually have a pod filter on my XH. Me and Toddy did a couple of tests.

0 to 100 times:
With box-11 seconds
With pod-less than 10 seconds

Top speed over a given distance:
with box-150kmh
with pod-140kmh

While the tests were less than scientific  the pod is back on there. But it has a heatsheild.

We fitted the same pod with the same setup on the EB. Sounded great but was an absolute slug  Didn't even bother running any tests with it.

Thats the type of reply i'd have expected. I left the bottom half of the air box in so as to direct a little bit of the cold air from the snorkle into the area where the pod sits. I'm gonna stick with it for a while and maybe set up a stainless heatshield.

I wonder if you could put neons on each side of the pod?

That would make you go faster.

The Nissan crowd would love it fashizle!

c'mon man... its funny  Stupid thing is I'm looking into getting a POD and incorporating it into a cold air intake. Would rpbably go a K&N though... Still figuring out whether I will just grab a K&N panel filter instead... I really can't see a POD filter having a larger surface area than a panel...

Sorry but I am with fairmont599...all the jokes are getting old.....and if it makes a difference then hell...go with it!!! And I wouldn't have thought a pod was RICE (race inspired cosmetic enhancement). It isn't just cosmetic...they can make a performance difference. It could be bad or it could be good but unless you try it how you gunna know??

The trouble with forums is that sarcasm and expression can be hard to detect.

I think people who are posting RICEr comments are just adding to the original post.

Personally, pods don't phase me. Unless they are sticking out of the bonnet / side of the car on a commo or import.

Agreed... like I said in my post on the previous page... all the RICEr comments are funny and they have to be made...
Anyone reckon a POD, done properly in conjunction with the air box would work better than a high flow panel?

I understand the sarcasm, don't get me wrong. It just wears thin after a while. As for the question: Is a pod better than a filter? its a bit like asking is the glass half full or half empty...it all depends on who you ask. 8-) Like I said the EB (same engine as XH) didn't perform at all while the XH had a quicker 0-100 time :? Yet both engines, exhaust etc is exactly the same

Using a heat shield or similar on the EB? As this would, I'd imagine, make a hell of a difference.

Used the same heatsheild on both. Don't think it actually achieves much other than look good

XH could be quicker due to there being less body weight ;)
