Collapsed cat? these will rob power from you all day, being hard to crank is a bit of an indicator of a blockage.

1) Check you have vacuum at the BBM Butterfly actuator at idle, might be stuck on short runners.
2) Spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor button ign coil all should be checked as well as ign timing. 3) Hard too start and running rough could be a leaking head gasket???? cheers........

Clogged fuel filter?

Is it on gas? If it is do you run it on fuel at all? Our EB is meant to be duel fuel but the fuel pump is buggered so it only runs on gas and its slowly lost more and more power over time and its now gutless as a 3cyl diahatsu

Sounds like a bad fuel injector, while engine running disconnect one at a time and note any changes to idle

Starter could be the cranking issue, it could easily be 2 or more individual issues as well.
Change your fuel filter first and let us know how that goes first.

It will more than likely be your starter motor on its last legs, $120 for a BF starter will fix that problem for you. Again a cheap fix in comparison to the german marque.
It always has been in my case, slow cranking is starter unless its hydrolocked.

I'd say the ignition timing is retarded.

{USERNAME} wrote: Well f**k me. Catch 22. My mate put in some metho into the tank to rid some suspected water, which caused the filter to get sludged up also as it moved some deposits. Filter was then changed and running far better, added some Nulon Total Fuel System Cleaner and now the car starts first time every time instantly. Looks like the previous owner was a messy s**t, dirt in fuel tank etc clogging up the whole fuel lines etc. Now the car runs great, pushes ya back in ya seat and starts instantly. Thanks guys for ya suggestions and ideas. Appreciate the feedback. Jase Your fuel pump pickup filter sock is probably stuffed/blocked aswell, might need to replace that aswell in the near future...just a tip....

That sock is on the actual fuel pump. So you need to pull out the whole pump and stick a new sock on or you could give it a clean/soak and that'd probably do it?
