Hey All
The other night me falcon stopped, and we did wana leave it on the road, so we towed it home probaby 10 to 15k's now we didn't unhook the tailshaft. I feel people have made comments about and i just wondered wat people here thought we never went over 40km/h. Any damage u think??? |

nope, no damage i'd expect...... i'd say anything over 40-50km you'd want to drop the tailshaft, and definitely keep the speed down, 40km/h is fine

If you tow an auto too far or too fast with the engine off it can damage the auto due to lack of lubrication, as the oil pump runs off the input shaft on the auto, not the output (tail) shaft.
As for exact distance and speeds at which it could be damaged, I'm sure there are hundreds of opinions, but for me I'd keep it below 50kph and 20km before I'd take the tail shaft out.

with an auto if it is to be towed you either
1 lift it from the rear 2 put it on a tilt tray 3 drop tail shaft apparently according to the experts if the auto is towed from the front without dropping the tailshaft or exceeding 50kph it will stuff up the pump and the torque converter. so do it right and it will be ok you good cause you didn't go over 50 kph

howd you tow it? ... rope? .. Yeap, just wanted to get the car off the main road really, being isolated and with the locals around i wasn't too happy about leavein it there. I have driven the car once since it was fixed and it seems alright, only time will tell i guess, it may have been just enough not f**k it straight away but it might have been enough to start sumthin! |
