Hey guys, just a quick question, after i get the new engine in (rebuilding the 4.0L with performance pistons, components, cam, balance, etc), bout a week later im getting a full exhaust fitted:
- XForce extractors, Highflow Cat, 2 Mufflers and 2 1/2 mandrel bend exhaust someone i have spoken to reckons that ill need something to keep the tranny cooler as the extractors are so close to it and heat it up a lot more.. is this true? and being an ex 4-banger guy, is there are any complications/allowances i should know about when fitting a new full exhaust system? (heating etc). im having it professionally fitted, but i dont wanna burn out any engine components... oh and its a 5-speed manual, not an auto Cheers Dave

nothign wrong with it the manual oil can get quite hot.. u will need a oil electric oil pump some lines etc drill the drain bolt and fit this end to go the pump then run the line fom the pump to your oil cooler then back to the tranny through the fill plug ( taped as well )

seems like a lot of work :p haha... cheers, ill look into it, with the mods im doing, the last thing i want is a rotten gearbox
the mods: the engine rebuild + race pistons/performance cam/engine balance is costing me $2500 tops, including all fittings (seals, plugs, gaskets etc) most likely around the 2200-2300 mark the exhaust is costing me a tad over $1000, more around $1100-1200 fitted engine is ready for install in two weeks, then the exhaust after that, will keep it posted with specific details and final cost

have u got the standard manifold on it?? ie not the newer BBM. Cos a guy at work has a ED XR6 and he has extractors on it and he had 2 wrap his throttle cable up in heat tape cos he said that it melted his cable and his throttle got stuck.
So i would watch out 4 this.

ive also seen clutch cables seize from the inner plastic melting and fusing with the cable, so make sure it runs as far away from them as possible
