ok so Im intrested in a 91 EB ghia witch appear's to be running a EB standard auto with a BF Barra Engine. I would like to know how that was accomplished but what i was wandering is if i was to buy it wat would be easier to install, A BF 6speed or ZF box or just drop a T5 in, coz what i was think seeing as its already running a EB auto box a T5 should go straight in shouldnt it please tell me your thoughts...

When Conrad built that car, an EA/EB1 Trans ECU was used to control the Auto. It has a 4.11 LSD in it, so not really suited to much, you have a choice of BTR, T5 or T56. A T5 will be a direct install, a T56, slightly more complicated. A ZF is near on impossible, unless you want to spend $10k putting it in an EB your looking at buying for $3kish.....

hoow long will a Rebuilt T5 last in that thing coz i can get my hands on if i have to...
coz my plan was to put a T5 with a HD clutch in it... not that i dont like autos... i just think a barra engine is gonna end up ripping the s**t out of that box

Depends on driving style, A mate took 2 yrs to kill a 2nd hand T5 in his BA that got driven like it was stolen. This was day in day out. The box isn't even dead, just needs bearings! As long as it isn't loaded up in 3rd too hard, it will be fine.

I think a T5 will go fine behind that motor just dont hit 3rd too hard with a HD clutch. This car will be insane with a T5 though I recon its will take .5 of the 1/4 mile and when i ran it down it was a bloody hot night. If i did a skid before going down the 1/4 it bogged down , if i didnt skid it, it spun all the way through first gear. So my 1/4 mile attempts were average. I'd def go with the T5. Kill the auto first lol The auto in it is good though.

I can vouch for the third gear thing. Why is it that 3rd is weak in the T5s? 3rd gear in my AU and EB always feels sloppy when they are cold, they both get driven hard but not ridiculously.

Back on topic I reckon the T5 will last but the barra will destroy it eventually if you smash it around, although it probably isn't worth the money and hassle of putting a T56 in when you can just buy a new T5 every 6 months lol.

4.11's would be way to short for the T5, put a transcooler, shiftkit and AU S5 solenoid in the auto and it will last longer than the T5

Its not like its a 400rwkw monster. Its just an NA motor.

A t5 will do the job fine.
