Have just flushed coolant on ED Falcon auto and noticed some oil in the coolant and think it may be transmission oil.

May need to bypass the trans cooling section of the radiator and instal a separate transmission cooler.

Would appreciate advice whether there is an off the shelf kit to do this.

Have searched but not found any reference to a compete kit to overcome this issue.

There is no off the shelf kit to bypass the radiator trans cooler. More likely that the water would get into the trans oil other than the other way round as the radiator it probably under higher pressure than the trans pipes.

If you want to do the bypass then you can do the following;

You will need to cut the trans pipes and use trans hose to connect to the remote cooler. If you do this, cut the pipes with a small pipe cutter, don't use a hacksaw or grinder, they will leave small particals of metal in the pipes and this will get into your transmission. Also see if you can put a small flare on the pipes so that the hoses won't slip off, they can slip off even with double hose clamps. When I bypassed the cooler on the wife's wagon, I got some compression pipe joiners from Enzed and joned the pipes with those, this allowed me to take a section of pipe and get Enzed to put a small double flare on the ends of the pipe. You only need to do this to one pipe as the other already has a joiner which you can undo and take down to get the double flare put on.

Otherwise you could replace the radiator.

BTW do you happen to know thread type/size of the cooler threads going into the radiator as I want to plug these.

There will be no need to plug these, as nothing will be coming or going from the cooler.

If you can wait till Monday I will let you know. I need to go to Enzed to grab some fitting so I can take down a Auto Tube Fitting and get them to check for me. Went down this morning but they are closed due to the long weekend.

When I did our EF.. (since done the BA too) I cut the pipes 1 inch from the radiator.. then took the cut off bits out.. rolled the cut ends over and soldered them off, put them back on the radiator... perfectly sealed and they look nice and neat too. best of all, no money spent.. I had a tranny full of water in the EF and had to put a new one in.. so although I never checked, I expected water would could come though the old radiator cooler lines if they had a crack leaking water into the BTR.

Thread is a straight Metric 16x1.5. Problem is that it won't bed on the flare face inside the tank.

You could use a 16x1.5 bolt and use thread tape on it and plug it that way or use the head of the bolt, put on a copper or fibre washer and seal it that way.

Or you could do what frankieh said.
