Therefore you may not find that advancing the timing would do anything anyway. On my EL, I run LPG using the most poverty pack Impco setup and I now get more power on LPG than other i6 falcon boys do on ULP. All I did was bumped the timing up about 6-8 degrees. Iniitally went about 10 degrees till I heard knock then backed off a few. Basically on LPG I was about half a car length slower than a regular falc on ULP, now I'm about half a car length quicker, to 100km/h. Oh, economy has gone up from 350km/tank to about 450km/tank but that includes the torque converter clutch mod, which also makes it drive a lot less like a heap of s**t. |

Im still runing ULP in mine, have not tied pulp yet ... must try that .. and advance it a bit more hehe .

Think of the poor XH panel van/ute owners. Take one for a drive and tell me what the lockup clutch does when driving. Why does the ECU tell the TCC to lock up if you keep the selector in third gear, above 65km/h? For those that dont know, this is the XH shift sequence for normal acceleration, on economy mode: First Second (20km/h) Third (45km/h) Lockup in third (50km/h) Fourth (70km/h) Lockup in fourth. ( >85km/h) On kickdown to third above 50km/h, the lockup clutch engages. at up to about 3/4 throttle. Above about 70km/h, on kickdown to third, the ECU will not allow the TCC to be unlocked. Extra throttle results in kickdown to second. Can you feel the pain all these XH owners are going through by replacing the TC every few months? The horror! On a standard EB2 > EL, why does the ECU tell the TCC to lock up if you keep the selector in third gear, above 65km/h? Get to 80km/h in third gear and try accelerate harder WITHOUT the TCC disengaging or kicking down to second gear? Can you feel the poor torque converter clutch slipping like crazy? Didn't think so. -------- edit: On a further note, why does my auto's fluid look and smell brand new, after 20,000km of hard driving with the TCC mod? Every other auto I've seen has already discoloured and has an odour to it. I wouldn't mind finding out from an auto specialist how durable the auto is in the XH to find out if it needs more or less frequent rebuilds compared to standard EB2 to EL falcons. The reason your standard falcons dont lock up is because it creates a lot of NVH. Having the TC in slip mode makes it nice and smooth for the obese target market of the car. The trade vehicles such as utes and panel vans are not needed to be as smooth or quiet so they have a different shift pattern. |
