A 3" system is only going to sound good with a big cam, they sound s**t house with a standard or mild cam. They just drone and the exhaust doesn't flow fast enough. Twin 2.25" will be better than a twin 2.5" for a NA6.

I've got a big cam and yes my 3 inch system sounds fine - as will be apparent if I can figure out why I cant upload to youtube.

did you end up going with a bigger exhaust? or you still got the 2.5?

Mine is deeper and quieter than that - and not as "hollow" sounding at idle.

Ah - yep - that makes sense.

Here's my first attempt at recording my 3 inch system - standing behind the gate as my wife heads off to collect little feller from school (wasn't gonna show the world our street or the car).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHbp_FXHB0Y

The phone completely failed to capture the idle - IRL it's quite clear but on the phone all you hear are the higher toned noises.

In the last few seconds you can make out the exhaust note as the car drives off - we are 4 doors from the corner so my wife is accelerating (not heavily tho) and then off the gas for the turn.

Well I'm going with the twin 2.5" that separates at the diff in a Y so as to allow Quad tips (BF GT rear bar ftw lol)

I will have a doughy bottom end when the cams go in lol that's for sure. But I'm converting to 5sp in a month, with 3.9 Diff gears to help for 1000-2500rpm. The cams come in at 2000rpm, all the way to the limiter. Bottom end isn't my aim at the moment lol

Just in case people dont realise I managed to get my youtube upload thru and edited the other post above: here's my car being driven away down the street - not the best capture (phone totally failed to get the idle even tho IRL it was quite clear) and I'll try to get some better ones but you can catch the basic note there for a few seconds.
