ages ago i posted up a subject about these spark plugs that use plasma to burn supposedly 100% of the fuel thats in the chamber, meaning the fuel to air ratio is different with less fuel going in as usual. now the guy doesnt make those sparkies since car companies think its not worth it since its not lucrative cause the scientist/engineer also claimed that they dun need to be replaced.
anyways is it possible to some how put 2 sparkies into the one cylinder so u can burn more of the petrol in the chamber instead of wasting some of it? or is this just an imaginable thing? cheers phong =P~

would it work on I6s in fords? would probably cost heaps........but burns more of the petrol.

it'd mean a whole redesign of the head, and for that kinda $$, you could get better results than just from twin plugs

hmmm just thought more sparkies, more petrol burning more power......so the plasma claims as it burns 100% of the petrol that goes in. ah wells just a thought. thanks

Piston aircraft have had this system for years, using twin magnetos to generate the spark. Each cylinder plug gets a spark from each magneto for redundancy. When we do the startup checks, you turn off each side in sequence to test the mags, and you notice a conciderable power loss. The plugs are on each side of the head, not next to each other, so it gives a more even burn than a single plug setup.

The early Nissan bluebirds and Pintaras have twin sparkies. They use a different part number spark plug for each row.
I don't think it'd be worth the time. |

Try Bosch Super 4 plugs. They have 4 arms instead of the one. I know it won't do the same thing, but it should provide a little bit more spark.

Multispark ignition system may go some of the way to acheive this...

I would have thought that some of the 4 arm plugs and a good MSD would do soemthing similar. with the higher energy ignition you could probably gap them further? |

you will always need to have one plug fire before the other, otherwise, you will create two flame fronts which will collide, and cause detonation. Thats why most of the existing twin plug engines use a single dizzy to fire the plugs with 2 coils, one plug always fires before the second.
Multispark ignitions do create a better burn at low rpm, but if you are not efficiently burning the complete cylinder fill even with this, then you would have other problems, that not even two plugs would fix. (too rich, bad combustion chamber design etc) |

Multispark (MSD etc) work very well coupled with high energy coils I have that system on my GTHO and can run it a lot leaner as the fuel is burnt more effeciently

does that mean u have like 16 sparkies in ur GTHO? phong =P~
