I have a 95 NF Fairlane which should have the same size wheels as your EF Fairmont. The standard size on the fairlane is a 205 so I don't see any problem. I have just fitted new 205s to my car.

Mine were Dunlop 205/65 15. This is standard but may increase your body roll over the 55. Be aware that a 205/55 15 will put your speedo slightly out.

you speedo will read 6% too high (on the safe side) with the lower profile tyres on the highway
in other words, when your speedo says 100kph, your really doing 93kph when your speedo shows 60kph, your really doing 57kph |

A 205 is fine in terms of width, but a 55series will mean the wheels will look s**t small.

The load rating is way too small. They probably won't last long with the weight of your car.
