It won't be silent when you take it off.
I took mine off the 'mont cause it was s**t.
Won't do any harm.

It also protects the paint from heat, I have never had any problems, but there are plenty who have.

i took mine of ages ago, does let out more engine noises, that you usually wouldnt hear.

be carefull when taking it of as you might want to put it back, if the paint underneath doesnt cover the inside of the bonnet.

Rushed.

If it was pointless, Ford wouldnt have wasted money putting it there. If you have a reason for taking it off then fair enough, but I wouldnt take it off just because you cant see the point of it.

thats it y would someone loose money to add something most would view as a pointless thing to do....so it must have had some point ...or just as a precautionary thing.

im fairly sure the main "point" of it was to reduce NVH from the engine bay?

It's definately alot f**k noiser.
Induction noise is kewwl.
I haven't noticed any undue heat on the bonnet, although it probably is hotter.
No paint damage, and I've been driving around without it for probably about 20,000kms.
