but the point is your water pump and ALT might be spinning faster then they really need to be. in that case you'll see a gain with no lose in cooling or charging efficiency.

Also the drive kit would be marketed towards people who race falcons and have no real need for charging or cooling efficiency at idle, as the engine spends all of its time high in the revs.

An underdrive pulley on EA-ED I6 Alternators is useful for getting rid of the old belt sqealing syndrome - I had one custom made to be 10mm larger diameter than the original on my ED (ie. not much of an underdrive really) and it ablolutely solved the ongoing belt sqealing issues I'd been having. At 10mm larger, my alternator is still charging fine at idle.
