hi
i finished my bbm conversion today.
i must say what a difference its so responsive now

here is a pic for you

looking great. i wish i had more time to work on my car.. work takes up 5 days (weekends also) and GF the other 2. so i have to work around them.

the main setback with mine is painting them all.

i have a mate coming over this weekend after work so hopefully we can have her running again on sunday.

then the motor comes out for the T5 and new loom.

i know what you meen mate.. my problem is my misses gives me s**t all the time about doing stuff to my car..
so i tell her to go shoping or ill take here to visit her parents..
thats the only way i can work on the car in peace..

i got some done today... almost D day... i put the exhaust manifold on (bought the gasket today) i was suprised there was NO threaded bolts and it all went togather perfectly, which kinda bugs me as i found out i am getting the extractors this week so it will all come back off.

left to go now is:
put hose clamps back on
fill with water
put the chain guide bolt back in
lenghten the fuel lines so they reach
wire up the thermos
turn the key.

it should be running on tuesday (day off)

then afterwards it gets moved around the backyard and the motor and box removed for part II (T5, new dash and EB loom

i also done the AU style spark leads

thats the car... alted painted all the parts a dodgy blue (didnt tape anything up)

they are sitting out a little bit too far, but i might have to modify the bottom of the thermos as they hit the suport bar at the bottom. when i go the serpentine belt conversion it shouldnt hit but thats a little way off

ok. not so good news today... got it all back togather (had to modify the fuel lines to fit as the old ones were cut for some stupid reason) turned the key and i get a slight clunk everyonce and a while and wont run for more then 5 seconds...

i got p****d off and left it for the day when the old owner rang me to borrow the torque rench i put the problem past him and he explained that when we converted it from CPI to MPFI he had to advance the timing for the car to run so now the timing is soo far out that the motor wont run... he is poping over tomorrow night to redo the timing with me.

the clunking is coming from the starter motor so tomorrow i also change that over.

oh and stupid me put the manifold on before attaching ALL heater hoses so i had to remove the mqanifold again today and connect up a new hose as the old one didnt reach.

if i cant get the car running tomorrow im just going to buy a running EL motor and drop it in.

i also pick up the extractors thursday night hopefully if not then saturday so in 2 weeks if its running they will be fitted.

i also have to wire up the thermos which require new battery terminals

forgot to mention... i installed the EL acc cable and hoses today to everything is good apart from the mount on the rockercover as its an EA cover still (need EL gasket)

I hate little nagging problems like that.. it'll be the simplest thing.. but until you work it out it's gonna cause you immense pain

i have 3 starters :P i have it half replaced (got distracted)

plenty of fuel (got it across my face taking pipes off today)

i have tried doing the timing for the last 3 days with no luck.

the BBM is OFF and the log manifold is painted up ready to go back on.

after i removed the manifold i remembered the set of pipes that run to the thermostat housing that i joined togather (which i shouldnt have) and i looked at them and they were still togather so that could have been the problem but i already removed the spark leads and half the manifold so i couldnt be bothered
