hey all. just bought a can of upper engine clean from subaru the other day and chucked it in my liberty. Has anyone done it on a N/A Ford fairlane Ghia? if so, did it work and where abouts did you spray it in?

I used to use that and the Holden stuff ( can't get the Holden stuff anymore, apparently its carsiginetic ( spelling????)).....
Just open the throttle body and spray it in. The Subaru stuff goes like a foam. I suggest after using that, and running the engine, then use carby cleaner to finish the job. These are the pistons after cleaning with carby cleaner. That is not a new engine, I was fitting my ported & polished head.....I paint the engine block so as to keep an eye on how the gasket is going for coolant leaks. The previous head was starting to leak coolant ( Corrosion problem from lack of coolant changes ).

oh wow. that came out clean as a whistle. i might run some carby cleaner through my liberty aswell then. did ya spray the carby cleaner in and let it settle for a bit? or while the cars running? cheers.

dont forget to change your oil afterwards aswell.

oh yeah. in that case may aswell just do a full service on it. think its time to do one anyway. thanks guys. jees cant believe the block comes out that clean. will it be that clean without the carby cleaner?

No scrubbing required, just wiped it with rags. This is the stuff, that as far as I know is not available anymore, that is the bee's knees for cleaning. It even cleaned corrossion off of terminals in electrical connectors. It is made in Canada. This stuff goes like a foam when first sprayed out, it is very slimey, and carby spray removes it well.

Yup i used the Subaru stuff a couple of days ago and it's unreal.
It was like adding a few degrees timing but running cooler with better economy as well.

Waggen wrote: part number for the subaru stuff? SA 459 is the Subaru p/n. You can also buy Genuine Ford stuff to do the same job. If I remember correctly, it is R1 6, and the Injector cleaner R1 9B. With the Subaru SA 459 you should also run the SA 718 Injector additive. |
