My mates xr6 ef beeps 5 times on startup and then intermittently throughout driving the vehicle. What is causing this? Can we fix or determine the fault without going to a dealer. Help please, it's driving us insane.

If memory serves, this is the Airbag warning.... Correct me if I'm wrong? (Anyone?!)

Does the "Airbag" or "Smartlock" light come on when the engine is running? (And stay on??)

EDIT: YES! I've checked the manual... to Quote...

"AIR BAG WARNING TONE:

An audible warning tone of 5 sets of 5 'beeps' may be heard if the warning light is inoperative and a fault exists within the Airbag system. If this occurs it should be checked out by an Authorised Ford dealer immediately"

Here is a JPG of the page

Could be low oil pressure.. isnt thier a warning siren for when the oil pressure goes into the red area (0)?

Yeah - check gauge readouts. Oil pressure and voltage. Dunt think any noise made by fuel...

As suggested - check warnings lights, airbag, charge etc.

Lol, i like your chances getting an answer here better than I like your chances of getting an answer at the dealer

if oyu have a trip computer, it has a 'low fuel' alarm with 80km left in the tank - alarms on start-up until the tank is filled past the 80km mark
