EL doesnt have a crank angle sensor. EF does.

Check you have power to the coil. Its possible the TFI unit on the side of the dizzy has died

did u happen to wash down the engine at all at any stage, if u did i bet the coil has cracks in it where it mounts and let in water resulting in the HV going to ground and not the dizzy.

Thanks for the help guys, we have checked the fuses and the TFI and there is power going through them. We now have spark to the dizzy and i have bought brand new leads but the is no spark going through the leads, i have checked that everything has been put in correctly. I have even seen the sparks on the top of the dizzy cap, why wouldn't it be transfering???? I have also tried with the old leads....Any help would be great

Where are you seeing sparks on the cap, at the spark plug lead terminals or the coil terminal?

If you are only getting a spark at the coil terminal, the centre pin inside the cap may have fallen out, or you rotor maybe faulty.

Ok, so i'm trying to fully understand this, so I'll just confirm everything.

You have spark at the SP terminals at the dizzy,
You have no spark at the SP end of the leads,
You have tried a new set of leads,

Is the spark your seeing a good strong spark, or is it very weak? (coil faulty??)

If you have a OHM meter it would be worth checking your leads, even the new ones, resistance should be no more than 20,000 ohms

Im having difficulty understanding your situation...

There is spark at the coil... and its sparking at each cylinder terminal on the dizzy cap... but it wont spark at the end of the ignition leads when connected to the cap??? Thats not possible... your not putting the leads upside down are you? (ie. spark plug end onto the cap) its the only thing I can think of.....

Did you stick a screw driver in there and place it close to an earth point... and you sure there is sufficiant earthing happening?!?

Something aint wired up correctly... TFI modual should be fine or else you wouldnt have a spark or fuel pressure...

This is strange as I just spent the last two hours pulling my dizzy cap off, cleaning (fine sand then a polish) each arc point, each cap terminals, coil terminal. I was having problems with it not starting... made sure each lead was securly in place, got under the car and fully pushed that coil lead onto that sucker...

Works great, starts instantly again... just waiting for it to die in the a** so it can prove me wrong that there was something else wrong apart from bad connections.

I agree with you Lukieman, very strange. I am only guessing that either the spark he is seeing is weak and can't get down the length of the leads (seen this myself before) or the leads are broken/faulty, 12 leads-long shot, though not sure if he has looked for a spark on every lead or just say #1.

Very unlikely anyone could make the mistake of putting the leads on backwards being as most lead sets have right angle connectors for the dizzy.

Last night before i connected the new leads, i put the coil to distributor lead in first then i kicked the engine to make sure there was sparks coming from the lead terminals. I then pulled 1 2 and 3 leads out of the sparkplugs and put a tester in the end with a good earth off the block and nothing happened.

When i go home today i will go under the car and really push the lead in to the coil and see what happens. There is a chance it could of come loose when i was putting the others in.

If the spark is weak is it a faulty coil???
