Need some help urgently please!
I'm half way through my cam chang - sotkc cam to Wade 1604. HOW ROUGH SHOULD MY CAR BE WHEN I START IT UP AFTER THE CAM CHANGE? NEW PROBLEM! Can't get the timing chain cog/sproket onto the new cam, any tips? maybe a tensioner I can loosen? Now I've got the rocker assembly off, and on one side the Hydrolic Lash Adjusters and shims just fell out, on the other side theyre in there pretty tight (I' don't want to use pliers or anything on them at this point), but they didn't want to budge even with me poking a little screw driver through the hole at the top! The ones which have fallen out have fallen out because the retainers are broken or worn. The retainers still may be inside the rockers.
Never use pliers to pull HLA's out. Tap them out gently with a hammer and punch using the bleed hole at the top of the rocker which you mentioned. When you get those ones out, you should be able to see where the plastic retainer lives.

Theres the tensioner on the drivers side at the front of the engine.
Theres always a broomstick and brick

I've got it all back together, but it sounded nasty as when i tried to start it, i'm cscared to try again!

My mate made me start it up and take it out, and now after 40 minutes of low reving highway driving for about 50 km's she's running beautifully, perfect idle and everything. Another hour and 20 minutes and then i'll be able to see if it's made any improvement!
O, by nasty start up noise i mean entire car vigourusly shaking (like a football team is trying to flip it over or something), and noises coming from the engine that i didn't think the engine could make! Whining, tapping, all sortsa things! |

Whining, tapping, all sortsa things! The tapping would've been the lifters cause it would have taken some time to get oil back into them. Sounds like mine did...i went through 1/4 of BP ultimate in 15 minutes while trying to get it to idle properly. I think you'll be happy with it.

I havn't reved past 3,000 yet, usually keeping it below 2,000rpm, done about 80km's now and almost an hour and a half of driving, idle seems to be almost perfect now, most of the noise has gone.
