I have a EL fairmont that decided to die on me as i was driving at about 90kph, first i noticed that i had lost power and the accelerator would not work at all, so i then pulled over and once i had come to a stop the car switched off, since then it has not started again. i had road side come out and tell me there is no spark. since then my father in-law has changed the coil and distributor and still no luck, Any ideas on what it could be. I take reasonable care of the car, don't thrash it often, about a week before it died on me the timing seemed to be a bit off and it got run to pretty much empty on fuel a couple of times, it also needs a new transmission because if i don't warm it up enough in the morning it would slip out of gear. well that is everything there is to no about my car. please help, any ideas will be good no matter how simple. thanks Bea

Does it have spark now the dizzy and coil have been replaced?

The auto problem sounds like it's just a little low on fluid.
Get the auto flushed and inspected.

Does the fuel pump run when you go to reds on the ignition? If no, check the ECU relay.

ive just bought an el which had the aux shaft in the motor stripped, its the shaft inside the motor that drives the dizzy, so does your rotor button spin when the motor is turned over? its always worth a check?

I have now taken my car to a mechanics and he has told me that the computer module and the body module need to be replaced. Could this be true or are they trying to take me for a expensive ride
