i am installing my wade 1636c977b cam soon and as chris told me i need to install a second set of shims. i got a rocker assey when i bought the new head wich is also getting installed. i pulled out a shim from the rocker gear wich was 1.8mm wich is the right size but my problem is that the original shims are taperd backs and if i put a second set of original shim in the second shim will have clearanceon each side of the rocker arm. is this ok or do i need diffent set of shims that fit the hole and arnt taperd.

Most people dont re fit the HLA'S with the retainer rings, they are mostly there for during factory assembly so the HLA'S stay in place. Leaving them out also allows the HLA to take up a little more slack if required with a re ground cam. Check the RPD cam install doc it covers it pretty comprehensively.

i refitted the rocker gear with the now doubled up shims and retainer less hla's. it was not as easy as i thought because the retainer wich are now removed allowed the lifter to fall out. so i fitted a ring of tape around each lifter and rocker assey. then placed it onto the head. the next drama was trying to get the tape out between the lifter and valve stem. its finaly done and the new wade 1636c977b cam is great. it is not the best down low but i knew that before i bought it. cant wait till i get my 2600 stalli. hoping for a decent time on the 21st at hethcote

nope stock springs. the wade 1636c977b is the most lift u can go on a cam with stock springs. good cam tho still has a nice idle and torque for normal driving. but needs a good 3500revs to start to notice the differance and at 4500 to limiter 5700 yes it now makes my car hit limiter in drive. its a different car. note that i have 3.45 diff gears and stall is on its way to get full potential out of the cam.

I had the same problem but did exactly the same thing worked ok all was going well until i noticed one lifter was not in right and i had just done up the last bolt. so yeah i was p****d by that stage.
all good now i was going to re-fit the seals as mine were shot as well and the first few times i started the car it rattled like all s**t for about 10 mins so i thought i was going to have to put them in but it seems to have settled nicley now. the car almost runs as well and only stalls every now and then.
