Anyone know of a reliable place with a vacuum leak smoke testing machine in the southern suburbs of Sydney or nearby?
I have a turbo sounding whine noise kick in around 2.5k rpm under load. I wanna get all vacuum leaks repaired before dyno tuning. |

Just spray some carby cleaner around the bay...if the revs pick up as you spray at a certain location, then you found the issue.

You sure it's a vacuum leak?

My mate just had to replace the booster in his EB Ghia 5L, those dual diaphragm ones are hard to find, I'm lucky I haven't had one go yet. Vacuum will always go down with increased revs, that's a basic function of how an engine works.

the noise of the leak only happened under load at revs above 2.5k rpm while driving. The higher the revs the more noise and higher pitch just like a turbo sound.
not while idling, not while revving in park/neutral. Im not rewriting the books here. Just stating the facts. feel free to comment on what turbos should sound like. |
