after a trip to the mechanic, i was told there was a fault code on the scan tool for the vct solenoid, now ive got a dedicated gas au tonner, the repco shmuck was no help and sent me to ford. After a search on fords computer couldn't find my ecu code i asked the bloke at the ford desk "would the gas ecu run the vct?" to which he replied "maybe, i've only got 5 ecus on the system, 6,8 gas manual and petrol" but he said really he didnt know because my ecu wasn't on there system. i walked in to the workshop and the kid i spoke to said he didnt have a clue about any of it and would have to run the ford scan. but couldnt do it for a couple of weeks.
is it possible that the gas ecu would run tbe vct if i put one in? why would it register a fault if it didnt?there is a connecter near the main engine harness connection in my gas ute that would connect to a vct if there was 1in it. i have 1 in my shed. |

the vct engine needs a vct ecu, other ecu will run the engine but wont have the vct function,,
but if your getting a vct fault code then your ecu is obviously a vct one, is yours a vct engine? and is the vct solinoid plugged in?? |

if it was a vct ecu on your non vct engine everything would work as per normal except it will put out a vct solinoid fault code..
ill have to check, but i think the factory lpg au's use the same pin on the ecu for the lpg as the vct ecu does...? but there is a fair chance the guy may have misread the code?? |

ok, pin 72 on factory lpg is, lpg prime solinoid.
on vct pin 72 is vct solinoid.. so what is being picked up as a vct solinoid fault on the scan tool may actually be the lpg prime solinoid fault... |

There is no such thing as a dedicated gas VCT engine.
If it really is dedicated gas, ignore the VCT fault code! it will not effect anything. |

The vialle has a prime solenoid and the zavoli does not. You are getting the code because the prime solenoid is not plugged in. There are ways to help with the starting, but I'd want to see how the guy butchered it first before making any suggestions. It really is worth the extra money to just fit a new vialle converter when they need it. They never work right with anything else. |
