hi, trying to get a friends car going , no spark , replaced the tfi and hall effect with brand new ones....
still no spark , connected a test light with a 12 volt globe , from the pip and spout wires - no flashing , then some one told me it had to be a led and resister ( less load ) , did that and now i get flashing from the led when its connected to the pip wire and also get flashing when its connected to the spout . so i figure the dizzys allright.. then we tried a plug lead from the coil with a screwdriver plugged in the end , and the ONLY time it would spark is when the screwdriver is about 1 to 1.5 mm away from a earth , literally any further than that , and there is no spark or a very very weak spark..... i did a ohms reading across the connector on the coil and got about .7 or so ohms...... then i put a multimeter lead on the output terminal of the coil and then touched each pin on the plug connector and got about 7.6 to 7.8 k ohms on each terminal , and this seems to check out going by the repair manual.... could the coil still be faulty ? any ideas ? thanks, mark k |

Had you done anything to the motor at all or it just stopped working? Check all plugs are connected, especially the main engine loom plug between the head and intake with the 10mm bolt.
