Please help. EF 4.0 Automatic. New trans-new eng and trans mounts (round ones supposedly hydraulic by Booma) new ECU, checked for cracked inlet manifold/gasket etc and the problem is. When in D or R with foot on the brake, bad vibration. Dissapears as soon as revs increase. All began after new mounts put in which were round ones from Kelpro. Now on Booma and same same. Please help! Going mad trying to work it out and sick of putting in N in traffic when stopped etc.

Have you tried increasing the idle a little bit ? Is it maybe idling too low ?
Is the ISC clean / connected ?

Thanks for reply. Idle is 650-700 rpm in gear which is the recommended rpm according to the sticker inside the bonnet but I reckon it would help as just a dash of revs makes it go away. How do I change increase it as it is the coilpack model and everytrhing is bloody automatic! Any ideas please?

On my EB there is an idle adjustment screw on the throttle body. Hopefully yours is the same still. Wind it in a bit and see if it helps.
You probably need to remove airbox intake and throttle body to airbox pipe to get to it easiest.
There is a proper procedure to adjust idle properly but i cant remember it right now.

Cheers,I will let you know if it's possible. I remember somebody telling me that it's all set by the ECU so I will wait and see. How do you put your car details in your profile? Thanks for your help.

base idle needs to be set with isc unplugged and i think the proper way has to be in diagnostics mode.
and yes Kermit, there is the adjustment screw on the throttlebody on the ef's

Edit signature in your profile settings.

The idle adjustment screw is only a small silver one on the front right side of the TB.

Is this the car you have posted in the For sale forum?

Yes. I should point out that the cars going to the transmission shop tomorrow as the new one is under warranty and the guys are going to look over it. I also spoke to a wrecker before who has an original set of mounts for me to pick up this week as everybody is telling me that all E series cars have a little vibration when stopped in gear as when the original mounts wear out or are replaced with 'lesser quality' new ones. I have a new set of Kelpro rounds and the current set in it are 'Booma' ahich have cost me just under $600 total. I am prepared to try square shaped or original 2nd hand to cure this. Stay posted tomorrow night for result from transmission shop. Cheers

You better put pics up with your ad then as it will keep being taken down without one. Check the For Sale rules. Do it enough and a temp ban or a warning will probably come your way.

try exhaust hanger rubber, the guy next door had a shudder in his EL fairmont that went away after the exhaust rubbers of all things were replaced. he had replaced the engine and trans mounts and looked at all sorts of s**t before finding the real culprit.

Got my car back from the good folks at ATC transmissions in Nth Parramatta and had a new torque convertor put in-vibration gone! It is driving so smoothly now and changes are tight and quick. If I get what I want for the wagon I will sell it if not I will put a fully rebuilt motor in it. Thanks for advice from everybody-really like this forum-am learning heaps that garage mechanics don't seem to know about. If anybody has reset leafs for a EF wagon I would be very interested if there in good nick and not super low. I am using blocks in the rear and although the struts are new, I reckon reset leaves would be better. Pedders want over $700 which seems a bit much. Any idea's?
