hi guys as i had to have the viscus fan put back on as my alternator couldnt keep up with the thermo fans for some reason im just wondering if you can buy viscus hubs for the ed 6 cyls that start cutting in at a lower temperature and ifso what temperatures for how much.
reason is the car can no longer be altered so viscus hubs going to have to do and i just wanted to know if it was possible to get a lower temperature viscus hubfor the ed 6 cyls. |

ok why cant the car be altered for?
and i find it surprising that your alt cannot keep up with teh thermo fans. i think u have another drama there ie the regulator could be on the way out as many other ppl here have done this with no dramas at all as far as i know the viscous hubs for your car all work around the same temp

can you get aftermarket dayco hubs that cut in at a lower temperature say 85 to 87 degrees celsius not at standard 91-95 degrees

I have found the genuine articles to work better than the aftermaket ones. You may have a overheating prob of some sort???

well not really as neither the low coolant light or the high temperature light comes on but gauge goes up to the m a in hot weather when you start the car then goes back down after.
as said car can no longer be altered so colder fan clutch is going to have to do. so the thermo fan conversion and other conversions are going to have to wait until i get a project ed sedan with fairmont options. we did put chemi weld in to fix the head gasket problem until cash allows to fix it properly, if that helps |

chemi weld
thats the dram right there it would have gunked up the rad for sure hence why it is not cooling correctly new rad should help! chemi weld is the devil !

ohh dude!
chemi weld is something you use if you want to get rid of your car and want to hide the obvious.. the thing with chemiweld is it will fix any leaks but it can clog your radiator. it will coat your sensors and possably block any water passages that may already be restricted by corosion or build up.. so when you finally go change your head gasket you will see what we mean... as frank said its the devil |

with the std and hd radiators does the hd one cool better than the std radiator or which is best to keep the temp gauge half or under.
what else is best to do to keep the gauge half or under even in hot weather still using the viscus hub |

I would get a three core if i was buying a new radiator. I have done a thermo fan conversion and it's great. If you are stuck with too much heat in the short term one mechanic suggested to me to lock up the viscous hub by putting screws into it. It sounds like your thermostat isn't 100% at startup, and maybe after as well. A thermostat with a lower temp rating is a good idea, but no lower than 82deg, i think.

So is mine. Initially it was perfect, then it developed a delayed response during warmup, just like yours. Mine seems to work fine after that.
