Hi guys, I've just been offered a VL turbo and manifold in good nick for a very low price.. after reading about the home turbo setup on here.. I started wondering if I couldn't graft the manifolds together and turbo my i6.
Would the VL turbo have enough to give me around 10psi? rgds Franki |

if its a stock vl t3 turbo don't waste your time, they are too small on the 3L engine in the VL and wouldn't be much good on the falcon 4L.

shame.. was a very attractive price..
What turbo's in other makes would be of suitable size? (meaning is there a model (other than a skyline) which has a turbo big enough to push 10ish psi to a i6? rgds Frank |

i guess i should explain exactly what i mean. the vl t3 won't have a problem providing 10psi. it will also spool up quite quick. but it will have a completely useless top end. power drops off BEFORE 5000rpm on a stock VL Turbo - around the 4500rpm mark. if you put in a ford i6 it'll be useless in the higher revs. if you want a turbo i'd go straight to something the right size for a 4L such as the XR6t.
The vl guys are even using XR6 turbos these days... turbo technology has come a long way since 1986. |

true I guess.....
I may get one cheap from a guy I know... if I play my cards right and spend a little cash.. man.. a turbo EL motor with the rest of my existing mods...... that bars me up just thinking about it.. |

an r33 series 2 turbo will fit an RB30 manifold and that will boost up to 15 psi

the RB25 turbos are T04b's .. most ppl do the "rotary" conversion to them.. ie: gt35 rear housings.
early boost that dies off around 4000rpm i had that for a temporary turbo, it would be easier getting a T04e. i upgraded my T04b to T04e, wont do that again, much easier buying a new turbo, but saying that, mines a monster now Front A/R of 0.70, rear A/R of 1.15 front wheel is 84mm, with a 66mm inducer so yeh, the VL turbo wont be that good |
