Wel none of the Holden or HSV gauges will go up to 270km/h. So unless he's running an aftermarket ECU, or has a new speedo unit. How would he know.
THe VQ one would go to 220, maybe 240km/h but i doubt it.
So how'd he know he got that speed out of the car?

I mean there's of course no way of telling what the hell he's running under the hood unless you can see it, and even then a lot of it, can be internal stuff.
He does sound like he's yanking your's and his own chain.
If it does have the power he claims, then it wouldn't be an out of the factory HSV model, maybe a special order, but very modified.

from VR onwards, out of the factory one of the options is a supercharger for the V6. The stock VQ V6 motor is 147kw, the factory supercharger brings it up to 165kw. The reason holden offered the factory superchargers for the V6 is because of the very poor low torque, like taking off at the lights. From what i know the holden v6 start to pull the max torque at 3500rpm, where the factory supercharger will help it pull at 2500rpm.

The supercharger does nothing after 4500rpm as it is not built to add high power gains, it was built to help with take off and towing, so ur mate is lying out of his teeth.

It wasnt until VS series II (96-97) that the Calais/Stato got an optional Super 6. VQ is VN/VP equivalent (90-93) VN-VSI had 127kw, and no supercharger option. VSII had 147kw N/A, and 165kw blown.

Super6 VSII Calais was pretty quick, flat 15s stock.

I dont know about a VQ, but a friend of mine has a VS stato from HSV. i saw the plate, (in the engine bay from memory). V6 supercharged, But definately not 220rwkw's. A little quiker than the EB, but i did recently find out how much quicker the EB went without the stereo before i took it off the road. So nowhere near 180rwkw's more like 170-180kw at fly.

So i have seen a HSV V6 Superchage VS Statesman. Confirmed by plate. From memory i think my mate told me that it was running 8psi. Cant remember what else he said, Its been close to a year since i seen him last.
