0 - 100 in six seconds in a mildly modded EF? I don't think so. That's XR6 turbo territory there. And the HSV would win. Those old V8s pull hard low down.

Pulling hard down low matters little in a race, think about it. Once the engine reaches midrange revs in first gear, bottom end power is never used again in that race.

I do think the GTS would win though, and by a fair margin.

i think you might have a little chance of beating him, but IMO it would be close, you had your done on a dyno?, if so what did it pull out?, holden he a different diff ratio, i think an EF XR6 with those mods, if they are really good(eg the exhuast has high flo's, extractors, real good mufflers, and the cam is not just a cheapy it's pretty good and stuff) it'll get the HSV for a little while but HSV will take over, so my answer would be the HSV, but do a little more and you will beat it, like head work and stuff

The GTS's also came with a 6 speed gearbox - so lower ratio gears also, this also gives them greater acceleration.
I dont think you have much chance

I agree with you guys here, I would have to go with the GTS also (even though its my thread). Any day of the week.

They came IIRC with a 5.7 stroker which pumps out the tourq.

The 4L does well against the VS models so I choose the toughest VS model to compare too. Seemed the 5.7 L was the toughest out of them all, hence the question.

So, in order of VS's (as this is the 95 build year) A midly worked EF can chop a V6 (ecotech), a S-pac (ecotech), an SS (depending on mods) and some (but not all) HSV's (depending upon condition, model, mods, fuel levels and so on)

Wasn't the GTS-R the toughest? Same power afaik... im sure there were a few little touches to it... for it to better the GTS.

As already covered, the VS will eat him whole.
To keep up you'll want to atleast add a manual, headwork and probably a chip or some sort of tuning to the EF.

Well, that EF would be mine... but it's far from an auto XR with a few mods. Unless you're pumping out over 150rwkw I doubt you'd be in the running.

BNKRBR's factory times may be accurate, but I think he's being a bit optimistic when it comes to mods and what times they'll do!

According to this site, the GTS-R was actually slower than the GTS,
which doesn't make much sense, but I don't know how accurate that is...

Hmm well this is off topic, but not long ago about 3 months, i was driving back home and a very s**t lookin VS HSV Senator (well IMO it was)decided they wanted to give me a go, lol so i thought what the hell.

Now ive got no idea what these things make kw wise and how heavy they are, but his car was stock. So we both floored it up Old Norlunga Hill and it just so happened that at the peak of the hill i was a good 1/2 a car length in front!!

I was amazed, and i know he was giving it all to cause his car was reving bloody hardcore!

So yeah i dont know how to explain that one lol. True story.

Senators are heavy and only had the 185kw engine. They'd all be auto's too I imagine so you wouldn't expect any more than low 15s out of them...

Never underestimate the power of a good start.
