Hey all,
I know it's regularly discussed, however, I need some advice on a new cam for my el XR. I have been researching many brands including Crow, JMM and Wade. The wade 1521a seems to be the way to go, as I am after mid - top end power and maximum kilowatt gain. However, many people have bought and installed it only to take it out again due to the lumpy idle. I just want some advice on what people would suggest for my car, my mods include;
Pacey Headers and a full 2.5" zorst. I plan on getting my J3 retuned to suit the new cam, so lumpy idle isn't a real problem for me.

Cheers

anything above the wade 977b will also need better valve springs, definatly will need a dyno tune for the desired results
also is your car auto or manual?

It's a Manual Getting 'stronger' valve springs and adding shims etc doesn't worry me.

ive got a 977b, and while its a big jump over stock it isnt that lumpy once tuned. Definetly makes better power though.

Yeah I'm just worried I'll get bored of the 977 and go for the bigger 1521 lol

Hey mate, had a 1521A in my car, didnt like it. Put me off cams for a long time.
Just bought a EL XR cam to get grinded to a 977B LSA110.
Got a tune lined up should make 150's

Hunting for some Valve springs for it though, does anyone know a good supplier?
Crow is a 2 hour round trip away. And I deffinetly want to upgrade springs if the cam engages around
3200-6000.

Can afford a set of springs for $150, not a poped motor @$1000
