Here are some remarks that have been passed on by a member who has replaced his Wade 1636 cam with the 1636C977B profile.
"Being a manual EA and running an EL ecu, it idles spot on, no surging etc, however in an auto it might have slightly too little vacuum at idle, causing it to hunt a little. Drivablility, this new grind has noticably more torque in the midrange, from about 2200 to 3000, and has a nice pull @ WOT from 3000 to around 4800. The 1636 seemed to run out of puff a bit earlier than the new grind. With standard springs etc, so far its been fine up to 5250rpm. Overall it's a good cam for a manual, works well with lots of revs, however it might be less suited to an auto unless there's a decent diff ratio fitted and / or a hi-stall. It seems to fill the cylinders a slight bit more, because with the new cam, mixtures went slightly leaner at higher rpms than they were with the 1636, meaning slightly more air is in the mix." yeah grechie lost over half a second over the 1/4 with this cam over a 1636. Apparently that was due to leaning out up top and s**t tyres. I'd like to see him back up his 14.4 with this cam.

Anyone able to compare either 1636 grind to the 1604?, or the 1004 for that matter.

Its just a profile, so it could either be reground or done on a billet cam...

yeah it is true, ran a 14.4 @96mph with a 1636 cam, ran a 15.2 with the 1636c977b not sure what MPH, but as I said s**t tyres and leaning out, not sure why he bothered running it.
