i think he was refering to 'danbodes' question.

Im still keen on the 977b, ive got time to change my mind, as theyre not sending the cam out until they receive my exchange one which ive sent.

I want the lumpiness of the 977b, but i wanna know if anyone is running this cam in an EF on stock valve spring and ecu?

heaps of people are

I have a mate (GMHKILA) who has a 977B in his high stalled EF auto. and he went from 15.1 to 14.6 with stall + 977b

ok im leaning towards the 977b..... but i need to know if the stock springs can cope, im guessing they will cause the lift specs are already so close to the 1673 and thats supposed to be ok with valve springs

dude 977b will work 100% fine without springs and ecu. the only problem is you cant change your timing. the timing is my only concern, but id say if you noticed a power gain with the 1636 then your timing is ok for a larger cam kind of. so a 977b will be fine.

As logical as that may be, they don't install the cams, and they haven't tested every cam in every car. I am good mates with one of the employees and I have had a lot of experience with wade cams in many different cars and many different grinds.

By all means ask Chris how the cam will go, but I don't think he will be able to give you a definitive answer.

Considering you have a manual car the cam will work 100% ill garantee. the only thing is you will probably run really rich and lose a bit down low if you cant tune the car as well as a car with a dizzy.

yeah wade have tested their stuff, but also rely on experiences from people who have been running their cams, like grechie with the 1673.

ive researched the 1673 to death, and the specs are so close to the 977b, just the exhaust lift is a little more with the 977b but the intake lift is the same.

I seen someone on fordforums who ran the 977b in his ef on stock ecu, and he reckoned it ran really rich and economy was like 170km's to half a tank. If thats the case, then why doesnt the 1673 run like that if their so similar?

It's called cam timming. The time the inlet opens & closes the same with the exhaust. You could have exactly the same cam eg. lift, adv. duration, duration @ 50 etc but the timming will be totaly differant.

Alright FordFairmont. My car is running (YAY!!!) and the idle is still fluctuating a bit because of the ECU and I hope that will go away some time over the week. I can't compare the 1636 with the 1673 because I haven't had a 1636. Compared to the XR cam, the 1673 has made a difference in the exhaust note and not to mention the revs were much smoother and quicker (obviously...). I haven't taken it for a test ride yet but will later on.

I just uploaded a video file onto photobucket.

http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t48/ ... V00008.flv

it is a 11.7MB file so it might take a while for dial up people.

thanks for that, by the way, the file is only 1.6mb

idle sounds a little rougher than my 1636 but that could be different exhausts too.....

I will just order the 1673 until i can save up for chiptorue chip and valve springs, then the 977b or cms 3 cam will be going in.

hehehe yeah. All comes down to how much money you have to throw around. What I did is within in my budget. I don't think it is worth me going into debt for the car if it wasn't going to run lol.
