As FordFairmont mentioned, I have converted my car to manual running of an auto ECU.

:P yes I am lazy haha. Here is the video. When the needle stops moving up...that is me not touching the accelerator...there was massive hang time for some reason. I think i need to check out the ISC.

Sorry to steal the thread a bit there FordFairmont.

hi guys all i can say is the 1673 makes plenty of torque made 431nm at 104kph all we did after a few days of runinng the cam was give it a few degrees of timing being an el and that was it made 143rwk without my new induction and no hi flow cat next dyno tune should see a little more not sayign it will be alot possibly 3-4rwk more but next stage for me beofre i get my head ported will be either a cms stage 3 cam or 977 whicheva is the bigger cam and wil work better with a ported head to me the 1673 only hunts when cold of the idle is set below 900 if its set at 1000 or 1050 or so starts and idles good

cool thanks for putting up the vids

The idle seems as tame as my current 1636. Next mod on the list for me will be tuned chip, springs and 977b...... but the 1673 will be enough for me for now

or maybe i should just buy the 977b now and wait till i can get the other stuff to install

hmmmm at the price of 135 im tempted to maybe just buy the 977 to see the difference they say its marginal but idle is not as smooth but i like that bit more up top is were u really want it anyhow. Mr fairmont what kind of chip would u get i heard the capa ones are only good for ef's not el's who else does them

dont waste your time with a 977b if you get chip and springs. get a 1521a.

also dont bother getting a cam now if you are getting springs and chip later..
i know its only $135 and about 30mins work to install, but if you are this indecisive over this why not buy both if you have so much money to throw down the drain...

1636 to 1673/977b to 1521a.

waste of money man.

either buy a 977b and keep it or wait and get a 1521a.

dont understand what point your making?

im gonna get the 977b, BUT im not sure on the valve springs.

the wade website says it will run on stock springs, but everyone i talk to says anything over 500' lift needs hd valve springs?

fitting valve springs is something i dont think i can do...... how much would a mechanic charge you reckon??

Valve springs is easy if you've got a valve spring compressor.
Remove rocker cover
Remove rocker rack
Stuff rags in oil galleries
Take out all your spark plugs.
Get numero uno piston at TDC (stuff a screwdriver in the plug hole to feel it)
Stuff cylinder full of rope to prevent valve dropping.
Attach valve spring compressor to valve spring, compress.
Remove collets (fiddly, magnet makes it easier)
Remove retainer and spring.
Compress new spring, put it over the valve stem.
Slap the retainer on top. If you've got enough rope holding the valve up and the spring is compressed enough you should be able to easily get the collets onto the valve stem.
Uncompress spring, making sure collets seat properly.
Repeat another 11 times, remembering to put each cylinder at TDC as you do it.
It's only fiddly, its not hard AT ALL.

977b will run fine on a 100% stock motor.

my mate has the 977b profile ground onto an au cam in his au motor and countless other people have 977b on stock springs etc.

either way what i was geting at was the 1673 is a complete waste of time and money if you get that.

if you must have a cam before doing springs and ecu go straight for 977b.

if you are doing springs and ecu later might aswell save the money and keep the 1636 and go for the 1521a when the other work is done aswell..

does that make more sense?

cheers for the advice fellas....... going for the 977b for now, and will fit new springs whenever i can afford it.

WHEres the cheapest place to buy the spring compressor, but more importantly, the HD valve springs?
