Hey guys, I have a Xr6 Au tickford 1998 falcon SII (non vct) im just wondering on what things I can do which I can do to get more power out of her. She's manual and I have already put on a 2.5inch cat back exhaust system and I did notice gain out of that.
Thoughts on CAI? Does this really help or a load of .. Bigger injectors? Heard this can make it run rich and not good for it. Cam kit? What's some suggestions you guys have? Effective modifications that really do increase hp Cheers Curt |

how much power do you really want and how fars your budget stretch?
if you want a little bit more oomph you would be best to fit extractors, cold air induction and a high flow cat, if you want a fair bit more you will want a cam which means you need the other mods i mentioned to go with it, injectors arent needed until your well over 170 rwkw and to have that kind of power you need the head ported or forced induction on a single cam engine, if your not worried about what rpm your car sits at on the highway you could just fit better diff gears, being manual you wouldnt want anything more than a 3.9 ratio, 3.45 being stock xr spec.

I want a fair amount
on the list is deffinetly so far Cold air intake Extractors Tune most likely Cam kit Already have a cat on her buget can stretch pretty far I was thinking about a turbo in the long run but that means I have to change most things. For the mean time I guess just denectly priced modifications that will give it a good kick what's your thoughts? |

if your definatly looking at turbo charging stop thinking about modding the car under the bonnet now and save, theres no point building it n/a and then throwing everything away or selling second hand and losing money unless your looking at picking up everything second hand and fitting yourself anyway,
start researching and planning a realistic goal that fits with your budget, if its fast and cheap it wont be reliable if its cheap and reliable it wont be fast. if your really must mod your car now maybe look into the handling side of things like sway bars, shocks, springs, brake kit, bigger rims/low profile tyres. theres no point going fast if you cant turn or stop if you really must give it some go fast mods now i think most people will agree diff gears will be the best mod and you can keep using them when its charged.

No shop would do that though would they?
It would cost quite a bit just for a decent non knackered xr6t motor, they are going for 3-4k+ on ebay and you have to deal with all of the ecu s**t. |
