That price was a wayyyy old price I even rang him 1 day for a quote . lol . .... I don't know how he could have do it for that as I charge 400 for a machine / cut throats / supply-fit bigger valves and all seats done pressure test chem clean that sort of thing ... then you still have to do the port work .. open up the exhaust to about 40mm and the inlet up to about 42mm
900 is a very good head if done right 1,000 is a street/strip head from me that will flow 450+hp @ 10inchs .. |

Yeah that sounds about right.... Ill be dropping the head off next week $900 later i think ill be safe to put in a big bloody cam and a chip and pull 190rwkw or more easily... After fuel pump and injector upgrade as well lol

Just for your information the way superflow work out HP from their flow figures is
hp potential = 0.27 x No. Cyl x cfm @ 28" So if your head flows say 220 cfm on the inlet then it is good for 340hp. You will find an OHC falcon head is good for this sort of power based on this theory. The thing is the camshaft doesn't lift the valves to the lift where the head makes the flow. There is a lot of potential in a 4L engine without touching the ports. Exhaust, cam, chip and inlet mods can potentially get you to your goal of 160 rwkw (about 270 flywheel hp) To get an engine to achive the superflow hp figures you would be needing to use extractors, cam with lift up over 0.500" much shorter runners on the inlet manifold and a rev limit up around 6500 rpm. The saloon car guys are probably the best example of engine that make amazing power despite very restrictive rules. They use stock inlet manifold ported etc, they are only allowed minor valve and port work. |

I have all that coming in.... i am getting a custom billet from surecam as a recomendation from the headshop to take advantage of the head work... which would be over 500+ of lift and i already have Competition headers and 3" system straight through, i was thinking of pulling apart the BBM and porting it... etc but i wanna go all out 160rwkw would be easy... but im pushing for closer to 200 now.. which is why ill be spendin almost a grand at a port shop etc... Unichip bla bla....

Prob wont make 200 not quite and why "Extensive" No bottom end work is required remember they can handle 10-12psi easy??? This is far from boost.
