Anyone know how to change the pulleys over on EF/EL water pumps?
I bought a new pump from ebay and it does not have a pulley, even though the seller told me it did initially, and is now saying that he told me it didnt and I must be confused.

Anyway, pump is out of car and the manual says you need a special tool to swap pulleys, which funnily enough I dont have!
So does anyone have any tricks on how to do it?

Hey, I have seen another thread on this you will have to try to search for it though...but im pretty sure u need a special tool or press or something like that. Also most sellers on Ebay don't include the pulley or sometimes have the pulley but then you gotta find someone else to fit both.

Buy a new pulley and get it fitted...hopefully you'll get it fitted for free at the place of purchase.

If you want to reuse the old pulley, then try calling a mechanic and see if they can do it for you.

I got a steel pulley from Bursons and then got it fitted by Ford (from a mate's mate) for free :D.

Yeh they are a press on thing, which is a PITA, but I was hoping someone knew how to do it at home.

Most of the pumps on ebay actually do have the pulley now too.

You need a pulley puller for the job, best bet is to rock down to your mechanic and ask, probably would take them a few minutes.

Belt the pulley off your old one, just dont hit the pulley just smack the shaft, use a vice and two bits of wood under either side of the pulley and hit the water pump down, use the vice to put it on your new pump just make sure it straight and dont go on to far it will bottom out.
