just follow the manual - pull it slack and then use a drill bit to hold it in place - there is a small hole you use to keep the tension slack - that is one tip the Gregory's manual is good for!

for belt use a insulated cable around the water pump area and pull up and out.
peace of piss to change pump.
use 1/4 inch tools. no drama like the photo.
abit of gasket goo on the heater hose.
if you can afford it go ford pump it is just a far better design and worth the money in the end.

the small hole is made for a 3/4 inch rachet on the bottom idler pulley, put it in and push it toward the battery.

That should be 3/8 drive not 3/4 drive unless the one on mine has shrunk

yer 3/8 drive !!

take the thermo fans out 2 8 or 10mm bolts and 2 wiring plugs
give u more room to work!!! and takes 2 mins

then use the ratchet in the idler pully and remove the belt
SLOWY release the idler pully
then some basics tools ie sockets needed to remove the pump

reading through and was about to say same thing gtbob...

also for the small price of buying a new pully while your there its worth the hassle (its not like you are going to be changing this as often as tyres and oil???? so lets get it right :))
as if you manage to get it off you've probably warped the metal pully

and if its plastic i bid good luck to u

you should be able to put it on yourself and you could probably use a g clamp to push it on mate, just make sure your pressing holding the other end of the pin otherwise you will f**k the bearings

goodluck
