I've read in a few places now that some shops sell our water pump with the pulley already on.
I've got bad bearings in mine, anyone know of anyone who sells them? I've already tried Coventry's and Supacheap. Lastly, if I did find one, do you think it's something a person who has never done one like me, is able to install? |

I was quoted $90 for a pump and $30 for a pulley today. But I want a pump with the pulley already on it.
To put the pulley on you need a pressing jig thing, the pulley has to be pressed on. |

hmmmmm, im sure i could arrange something to get it on
Gotta have a look at mine. If its anything like the power steering pump they have a thread through the centre of the shaft, and then an appropriate sized bolt can be used to pull it on. Ill have a look this afternoon and find out how i go Thanks!

If your going to buy another water pump say for an EF/EL all the ones i've got don't have the pully on. Your better of getting a metal pully ... Most places with a press should be able to fit it for you for $10 or so, just make sure the pully is flush with the pump shalf .

yuh, just go via a mechanic.
you don't even need a press (makes it easier) but a local mechanic had a threaded thing that pushed it on.

Not sure if Bursons are in WA though.

i got a pump and pulley from Ford - who magically matched competitors prices, and they pressed the pulley onto the pump shaft for nothing for me!

Now should I let my mechanic do it $$$
Or should I try and do it. The hardest thing I've done on my car so far, is the inlet manifold gasket, and swaybar bushes (all 10). Should I be able to? |

the trouble is it is a plastic pully - which unless pressed on dead square will crack and/or wobble ... then you are up for another one!

Yeah, i put the pulley on mine. And then dropped the pump out the vice and so now have a wobbly pulley! But oh well, im not replacing that one. Just bought my water pump (EB) from ford, cost me 150, and came with provision to bolt on the fan and to also bolt on the metal pulley.

my pump was 76 and pully 26 from autobarn and to put the pully on you just need a bolt and some washers took me a bit to change it all over but looking back at it now it aint that hard

Just in the process of putting mine on, when i did this
Snapped one of the bolts, and now ford is shut so it will have to wait till tomorrow. Oh well, live and learn. Ill use a torque wrench next time I swear it didnt feel that tight but?
