yeah we went at it from the lights. his first gear was shocking, i got him off the line easy then as soon as i clicked into 2nd gear i was off, and his car has low k's as well so yeah, i believe it has got to do with the amount of torque the i6 pull out. also the vt's are heavier.

so what is it 308 or Gen 111? even if its a 308 thats still a good effort. If its a gen111 it must have a couple of plug leads hangin off

GENIII V8 is the 3rd generation All alloy Chev V8.

Powers Corvettes and Chev Trucks too.

308 is the old Holden Cast iron V8 .

The VTII SS he raced has 220kw of power and 460nm of torque

ill give it points that the i6 goes hard from the get go, but id still say that lined up on the strip the SS would in turn rape the i6 falcon. xr6 monty etc watever .. the gen3 is a quick motor, whether its in an SS or Calais. pre gen3 v8's are in motor for low - mid 15's ..

Possibly the SS didnt stall up enough ?

A VT2 SS will spank your botten blue.

Guess what, my brother has one and the GEN3 will get any i6 and hammer it

my mate has a falcon bf (stock), raced a vt ss (not sure what series) and it was dead even from start to finish(both auto). since the bf has 190kw your ef 157kw, i dont think you will keep up with the vt.

Lets not kid yourself, the gen 3 will kill ya.

But I drove both cars back to back on the weekend. The GEN3 6sp with mafless edit, 220rwkw, it bloody flys!!!

Then I drove my EL Ghia, Ill tell you it will lose but its still a friggin lovely drive.

Lets just leave it at that.

hey guys, interesting convo. I'd have to agree the genIII is damn quick. But the question now is.. what kinda modding would it take for an I6 to be even on the strip with a gen III??

And then what kinda modding would it take for an I6 to rape a genIII?? Is it possible without forced induction?

i'd even say that the vt ss would beat a bf 6 still provided they both know how to drive, its not like im not defending ford, but thats the facts, a better comparrison would be a ba 6 versus a vy 6.

wtf? this is stupid! we are comparing apples and pears! 6's and 8's are a completly different kettle of fish to each other, especially the 4 litre and 5.7 litre

My brothers gen 3 with 220 rwkw will belt any i6.

I have a gen 3 with 242rwkw which will embarrass most fords.

Your best chance against a gen3 is against a stock gen3 auto. They are a little lazy off the mark, so if you surprise them with a quick take off, maybe a i6 with diff gears and a manual, they will need a tonn of grunt to reel you in. I reckon they may just reel you in over the quarter though.

I reckon with about 140rwkw and a slick takeoff you may just hold off a stock gen3 auto over the quarter.

I'm no one to give the holdens much credit but the gen3 all beit in a vt s2 is a pretty quick motor and does not seem at all possible unless it had some serious issues i'e the driver or he was parked
