I had a rattling that I thought was the exhaust, turned out to be the flex plate bolts that were loose.

it could be the exhaust shields / catalytic converter shield, does it sound like a rattling buzzing type of noise?

Yep, had this on mine. Is was bloody annoying, found out that the cat converter was JUST hitting the underside near the front gearbox mount, heated up the pipe moved it down slightly...rattle gone.

Hopefully this is the same rattle you have and its and easy fix otherwise ..NFI

took it to ultra tune today guys spent a good hour going over it can't seem to find
anything wrong with it the only conclusion was maybe slightly loose heat sheild near cat converter or maybe flaps ratling near the tyre but everthings bolted in tight with screws in place , noise is still there wft ? has to be something ?

Ultra tune looked for a hour and concluded it's possibly a loose heat sheild even tho they've checked them and they are tight... What have you learnt.

hey fellas i know this is an old thread but i figure someone might benifit, i just had the same problem with my xr6 ba mk2, the noise i was getting was a rattle/boing with a sqeak ...... if that makes sense? well it kind of sounded like if you put a metal ruler over the edge of a desk and held one half on the desk and flicked the other half, it makes that booiinnggg noise, well yeah that! it only happened over bumps whether i was braking or not it didnt make any difference, i searched for anything loose front to back and found nothin, then as i was tightening my wheel nuts after checking brakes i stomped on the wheel brace and to my surprise i heard the noise which had been s**t me, so i figured id lift the bonnet to get a better listen and stomp on the brace, there was no noise, i shut the bonnet and stomped the brace and the noise was back, lifted the bonnet and found the rubbers had been rubbing on the engine bay and a rusty latch, i sprayed wd40 over it all and the noise is gone,
long story short it was the bonnet

I also have the same issue, has anyone deciphered it yet?
I have tried to look underneath but cant find anything
When I drive over a bump or when theres juddering in the road, the car make a rattling noise, almost closer to a knocking noise, that sounds like its comming from the suspension
Have looked around on line and it appears its a common problem, but no one else knows what it is, and I would hate to think that every other FG owner is driving around and putting up with the noise. Help? Anyone?

Very very common problem with B series is the rear upper shock bushes.
Remove the wheel and the 15mm upper shock bolt, pry diwn the shock and check the bush.
They tear and the rattle like you wouldn't believe.

Also under adjusted handbrake, the adjuster can hit on the tail shaft.
