Hey,
Is it possible to weld a plate or something between the two bits of metal on an engine mount to make it stronger? I don't want it to ever break again when I replace it. Cheers. |

if i am reading correctly the two plates you are talking about are seperated by a block of rubber. this is what helps stop the vibrations. if you weld a plate to it you might as well just bolt your engine straight to the chassis. probably get a whole lot more vibrations
then again i could be dribbling s**t

The vibrations will more than likely break the welds anyway

Well it's a urethane mount, and I could't feel any vibrations at all. But it died in less than a week!
Anything else than can be done? I could have sworn I heard of people welding them up??? |

you can also get some chain and weld the links together .and bold it to each end this will help as i did this to my old v8 as it always broke mounts

hi,read your mods, your getting a big motor twist ( torque twist) when you rev. motor out. either idle is too low -will shake engine bay,or using rubbish mounts- replace both sides with fraud ones, a torque chain has to be mounted very solid -it will rip the inner guard. i have seen limiter steel straps on mounts to hold when torn, you can weld a link using chain, loose about 1mm on both sides and both mounts.may reduce vibration, but will transmitt in to subframe. trial and error, if you chain it 75-100mm slack,i had a 6cyl. move 100-170mm on top, with almost 2mm on bottom mounts, twisting on rubbers.are the au mounts heavier? good luck
