motor has red valve cover - mechanic says it's the xr6 engine - want to know how much one will be and suspecting this is same kinda job as replacing all gaskets of engine head - can throw in ideas of how much or how hard this job can be

To change the crank is a complete bottom end rebuild.
Just get an exchange motor. Will be cheaper and easier.

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around!

Get an AU motor, 350-500, have the sumpe modified to suit your car, 150-300, change everything over from your engine to the AU, bobs your uncle.

Will need a intake and exhaust gasket, as well as sump gasket. No more thatn 150 for gaskets.

It will be sooo much nicer to drive.

If you have the time and tools it can be done in a weekend with a few mates.

Yep I suspect in N.Z ....
AU engines are quite a bit more expensive..
GOOD conversion though...
Btw the XR6 difference is basically the head, EEC and fuel reg...
The short block is the same...
